During his long and productive tenure, McWilliams tripled the number of incunabula in the collection, emphasizing Spanish incunabula, and acquired important pieces, as well as graphic works by local and international artists.\u003cbr\u003eMcWilliams continued the work of describing books and enriching the Museum's catalog begun by Adler. While executive director of La Casa del Libro, he maintained his position as a professor of English literature at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras campus, and as an operetta singer.\u003cbr\u003eMcWilliams is fondly remembered for his kindness, his dedication to teaching, and his passion for opera and music.
