María Teresa Arrarás (Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, 1932–)
Former director of La Casa del Libro Museo Biblioteca (1991–2010), cultural manager, illustrator, and author of children's books and historical essays.
She founded Galería Los Arcos, which she located in Old San Juan. She has written several children's books: Matum, el Manatí, published by the Puerto Rican Commission for the Celebration of the Fifth Centenary of the Discovery of America and Puerto Rico; Aventuras del Compae Conejo, Ediciones Alalimón, 1996; A Hans Christian Andersen, con afecto, La Casa del Libro Museo Biblioteca, in 2005. Under her publishing house, La Gallina Gorda, she published Moisés, el Manatí (2006), El Gato del Emperador (2015), and Pedrito y García Lorca (2019). The publishing house of the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture published her Varia Valeriana during the bicentennial celebration of Antonio Valero. She currently remains active writing under "Cosas de la Gallina Gorda," her Facebook page.
